Onboard

Every aircraft undergoes thorough cleaning before each flight which includes a full disinfectant process of the luggage racks, folding tables, and seat armrests. During the flight, the lavatories are cleaned every 15 minutes with disinfectants.

Our crew members wear face masks on routes where it is required. The masks are replaced according to the recommended time intervals. During the flight, crew members repeatedly disinfect their hands with hand sanitizer. Depending on the destination of the flight there could be additional personal protective equipment used such as protective shields, glasses, gloves, and robes.

It is recommended that our passengers wear a facemask at all times during the flight on the routes where it’s no longer a requirement. However, there are destinations where passengers will be required to wear masks onboard and at the airport terminals. Passengers are required to bring their own masks and wear them properly before, during, and after the flight. If a case of Covid-19 or other infectious disease is confirmed on any of our flights, a thorough post-flight cleaning is carried out.

In both Business and Economy classes, all headsets, headrest covers, pillow covers, and blankets are replaced after every flight. All used linens and blankets are washed with a certified disinfectant and dried at 90°.

The blankets are offered individually wrapped on all flights in economy Class, while in business Class they are unpacked before serving.

Headphones for business class are disinfected after each flight, while economy class headphones are individually wrapped.

International press service is temporarily unavailable on certain routes. However, our passengers are welcome to download international press from here. On board the aircraft, you may access the press via the Air Astana application or by scanning the MyPRESS QR code in the Tengri magazine.

All aircraft are equipped with a UPK (Universal Precaution Kit) with all necessary personal protective equipment for crew and passengers in case a passenger has symptoms of infectious disease. Crew members are trained on how to deal with a passenger who has Covid-19 symptoms or other infectious disease symptoms.

Sanitizing towels are available on all flights on request.

The ground service staff use zonal boarding for passengers to facilitate maintaining social distancing. During boarding crew members assist passengers to take their seats as quickly as possible.

The air distribution system in the aircraft is equipped with High-Efficiency Particulate Air (HEPA) filters to trap pollutants, including Covid-19 viruses, with an efficiency higher than 99.9%. The air supply to the cabin enters at the level of the overhead stowage compartments and is extracted at floor level. Most importantly, there is no flow forward or rearward along the cabin. On average, all the air in the passenger compartment is completely refreshed every 3 minutes. The air in the aircraft cabin is a combination of fresh air drawn in from the outside and filtered air that has been cleaned through efficient filters that remove airborne particles the size of microscopic bacteria and virus clusters.
