Information for Expectant Mothers
Travelling during pregnancy
Expectant mothers at up to 22 weeks of pregnancy may travel without requiring a doctor's certificate.
However, for those at 22 to 34 weeks (for singleton pregnancies) and 22 to 32 weeks (for multiple pregnancies), air travel is subject to the presentation of a medical certificate affirming both the pregnancy and the individual's good health from an accredited medical institution.
For international flights, the certificate must be translated into a foreign language. It's important to bear in mind that the certificate remains valid for 30 days.
Expectant mothers carrying pregnancies surpassing 34 weeks (singleton) or 32 weeks (multiple) are obligated to obtain approval from the Medical Consultative Board or an equivalent doctor's commission.
The evaluation must be meticulously documented on Form No. 026/у or a certificate provided by a competent doctor's commission. This assessment should comprehensively outline their health status and be issued by a medical institution within 30 days prior to the flight.
For international flights, the doctor's certificate must be translated into the language used in the country of departure.
In cases of pregnancy complications, it is imperative to seek medical advice before embarking on air travel.
Air Astana reserves the right to deny transport to an expectant mother, even with a medical certificate, if the expected due date falls within the subsequent 7 calendar days. Additionally, both mothers and newborns will be ineligible for transportation during the initial 7 calendar days after the birth of the child. The expectant mother's health is a shared responsibility between herself and the certifying doctor, who authorizes air travel.
Furthermore, Air Astana reserves the right to decline transportation for expectant mothers should immigration laws of the destination country necessitate such action.
