Registration
for Nomad Club
How
can I join Nomad Club?
The easiest way to join is by completing an online application form. A
temporary membership card can be printed from your computer screen.
I fly occasionally, but
not very frequently, so am I unlikely to ever collect enough points for an
award?
You should join even if you fly only once a year or every couple of years. The
membership is free and you can also earn points by using the services of our
partner companies, which means you can earn points even without
flying.
Is
there a membership fee?
No, membership of the programme is completely free.
Are
there any enrolment requirements?
The applicant must be over 2 years of age and must
accept the Terms and Conditions of the programme. If you apply for a child under
16 years of age you should provide your passport details at the time of
application. You will need to accept the programme rules on behalf of the
minor. Other than that, there are no conditions or requirements for membership.
Membership
Card
I
submitted my application about a month ago, but have not received my membership
card yet. Is this normal?
Your membership card will be issued when you have completed your first flight with
Air Astana after registration in the programme. Please allow up to 4 weeks for
the card to reach you by mail. Please contact the Nomad Club Service Centre if
4 weeks have passed and you still have not received your card.
What
is the difference between a temporary membership card and a permanent
membership card?
The temporary card printed from your computer screen has the same membership
number as the permanent plastic card and fully entitles
you to earn/redem Nomad Club points. The permanent card is made of plastic and
has a magnetic strip on the back containing your encoded membership details.
I
registered twice by mistake and received two cards. Which one should I use?
Nomad Club rules allow only one account per individual. Please contact the Nomad
Club Service Centre. The agent will consolidate your accounts and advise you
which card to use in the future.
I
lost my membership card; do I need to cancel it to prevent fraud?
No. Unlike a credit card, your card cannot be used by another person. Notify
the Nomad Club Service Centre and a new card will be issued to you free of
charge. Note that subsequent replacements may incur a fee.
How do I change the name
on the card and my online profile?
Name changes are only allowed for legal reasons such as marriage, divorce,
adoption, etc. Please contact the Nomad Club Service Centre for details. Note
that you will be required to present legal proof of any name change.
Earning
Nomad Club Points on Air Astana
Do
I need to purchase my ticket from an Air Astana ticket office in order to
receive Nomad Club points?
It does not matter where you purchase your ticket – online at the Air Astana
website, at any Air Astana ticket office, or from your preferred travel agent.
If it is booked through one of the eligible booking outlets you will be
entitled to Nomad Club points.
Do I need to submit my
tickets to the Nomad Club Service Centre after every flight?
No. The tracking of your flight activity is automatic, provided you have quoted
your membership number at the time of reservation and/or check-in. However, you
should retain your ticket receipts and boarding passes until the corresponding
flight activities have been posted.
Why is the number of
earned points linked to booking class?
Booking class determines the type of ticket you are travelling on – the more
expensive tickets are usually more flexible. More frequent flyer points is
another benefit of a more expensive ticket. So the number of points is really
linked to the price of the ticket – generally the more expensive your ticket
the more points you will earn.
Will I get points for
travel on a codeshare flight such as Almaty – Amsterdam?
Yes, as long as your ticket shows an Air Astana code on the ticket (“KC”) and
is booked in one of the eligible booking classes.
Will
I get points if I travel on an interline ticket, for example, I fly Air Astana
to Frankfurt and continue to New York
on Lufthansa?
Yes, you will get your Nomad Club points for the portion of your journey flown
on Air Astana as long as it is booked in one of the eligible booking classes.
Where can I find out
exactly how many points I will earn?
Please go to the Earning Nomad Club Point section of this website.
Earning
Nomad Club Points Using Partners
I
heard that Lufthansa is a partner of the Nomad Club and I can earn Nomad Club
points for flights on Lufthansa, is this true?
No. At this time Nomad Club members cannot earn points
for flying on Lufthansa or any other airline except Air Astana.
What
partners participate in the Nomad Club?
The current list of partners and the terms of their
participation can be found in the Partners section of this website. We will be
working to expand our partnership network to provide you with more accrual
options.
Redeeming
Nomad Club Points
How
do I calculate the number of points required for an award?
Consult the Award Chart in the Redeeming Nomad Club Points section of this
website. Select your award travel zone based on your departure and arrival
airports and the desired type of award: economy, business, or upgrade from
economy to business. You can select one-way or roundtrip travel awards, but
upgrade awards are always one-way. Locate the number of points required in the
corresponding cell of the Award Chart.
I
don’t have enough points for the award I want – can I purchase the “missing”
points?
Unfortunately, at this time we don’t offer this, although it may become
available in the future. For now, your quickest option to get the necessary
points is to take another Air Astana flight.
I
plan to take an Air Astana flight next week, after which I should have enough
points for the award I want to redeem. Can I make a booking now while there are
seats available?
No. According to the Nomad Club rules, you cannot make an award booking unless
you have the required number of points available in your account.
Why can’t my travel
agent issue an award ticket?
Air Astana carefully safeguards your account information. Travel agents do not have
access to the computer system which stores your points balance and therefore
cannot issue award tickets.
I can see on your
website that seats are available on the flight I would like to redeem an award
on, but when I call Air Astana I am told that there are no award seats
available. Can you tell me why?
That is quite possible. The number of seats available for Nomad Club redemption
on each flight is strictly limited. Other types of tickets have different
availability and therefore “revenue” seats may still be available, while
“award” seats are not. Your best chance to obtain the seats to your desired
destination is to travel during the off-peak season or time of day, book early,
and be flexible about your travel dates/times.
Can I have an award
issued to a friend or family member?
Yes. Nomad Club does not restrict who the passenger is on an award ticket and
you can give the award ticket to a relative or a friend. However, once the
ticket has been issued, name changes are not permitted. Regardless of who the
passenger is, you will have to present your passport when collecting the award
ticket. Note that sale of award tickets is prohibited. A passenger found travelling
on a purchased award ticket will be denied transportation, while the account
from which the points have originated will be suspended.
My plans have changed and
I cannot use my award ticket. Can I get a refund?
Yes. Within the validity period of your ticket you can re-deposit the points
into your account. An administrative fee of 5,000 points will be deducted.
Please note that points for expired tickets cannot be re-deposited.
Claiming
Missing Points
How
do I ensure that I always get my points?
There are a few things you can do. First, ensure that
the ticket you are about to book is eligible for points accrual. Most types of
tickets are, but certain types of deeply discounted tickets do not earn points.
Please review the Nomad Club Terms and Conditions for complete details. Always
provide your membership number at the time of reservation and present your
membership card again at check-in to make sure that your Nomad Club number has
been properly recorded. Keep your ticket receipts and boarding passes until the
corresponding flight activities have appeared in your account.
If activity tracking is
automatic why is some activity missing?
Due to current infrastructure limitations, not all airports in Kazakhstan are
equipped with automated check-in systems. There are plans to automate them in
the near future. In the meantime some activity tracking will rely on manual
processes which are not 100% error proof. In addition, there are many other
reasons beyond Air Astana’s control – such as when the name on your ticket and the
name on your membership card are not the same.
How often will I receive
statements from the Nomad Club?
Statements will be sent to you once every quarter if you have any activity in
your account.
Is
there any other way to see if my points have been posted?
Yes. You can check your account activity and points balance online at the Air
Astana website. You can also call the Nomad Club
Service Centre at (7-727) 244 55 30.
My flight activity has
not appeared on my account. What should I do?
Please refer to the Claim Missing Points section of this website. Note that
you can claim your points only if at least 30 days have passed from the date of
your flight.
How
long does it take to get the missing points credit?
Six to eight weeks.
Nomad Club
Silver and Gold
How
can I get a Silver (Gold) Nomad Club membership card?
You need to fulfil the criteria required for Elite membership, collecting at
least 25,000 flight points (or fly 30 segments) in a calendar year for a Silver
level and 50,000 flight points (60 segments) for Gold. If you are an Elite
member in other airline programmes, please contact the Nomad Club Service Centre
to verify if you may be eligible for a one-time complementary Elite membership.
I
joined the programme in March. Do I have to wait until 1 January of the next
year in order to start qualifying for the Elite membership?
The qualification year is always the calendar year which is from 1 January to
31 December. If you joined our programme in March, your qualification period
becomes a little shorter – from the joining date to 31 December.
Why
are there two criteria for Elite membership – flight points and flown segments?
Those who usually fly long-haul will find it easier to qualify based on flight
points, while those who fly short-haul will find it easier to qualify based on
flown segments. Both types of passengers are important to us and that’s why we
established two types or qualification criteria.
How
soon will I receive the Silver/Gold membership card after I qualify for Nomad
Club Silver/Gold membership?
You should normally get your Nomad Club Elite card by courier delivery within 2
to 4 weeks after your qualifying flight. Please contact the Nomad Club Service
Centre if 4 weeks have passed and you haven’t received the card.
How
long after qualification will I receive my Silver/Gold benefits?
You will receive your Elite benefits from the date of qualification until the
end of the year in which you qualified, plus 14 months. For example, if you
became a Nomad Club Silver member on 28 May 2008, your Silver membership would
have been valid until the end of February of 2010. If you further qualified for
Nomad Club Gold in November (or any other month) of 2008, you would have become
a Nomad Club Gold member and received Gold benefits until the end of February
of 2010. However, in order to continue receiving your Elite benefits beyond 1
March of 2010, you would have been required to again meet the qualification
criteria during the 2009 calendar year.
