  • Air Astana Donates Playground to Internat-School № 10 for Children from Needy Families

    14 October 2011

On 14th October 2011 Air Astana donated an “airplane” themed playground to Internat-school № 10 and organized a party for the children. The cost of the playground complex exceeded 3 million tenge.

Larissa Skvortsova, Director of Internat-school № 10, said, “Our Internat-school was opened in 2006 and we now have nearly 100 children between the ages of seven and eleven studying with us. These are children from low-income families, some of whom were born in large families or are growing up without a mother or father. They spend all week in school, so it’s a challenge to organise leisure activities and improve their living conditions. Thanks to the help of sponsors, our students’ childhoods can become more vivid and colourful. We would like to thank Air Astana for responding to our request and presenting us with a new and modern “airplane” themed playground.”

“The national air carrier regularly provides support to orphanages and boarding schools, implementing a variety of charitable and sponsorship projects,” said Bella Tormysheva, Vice President of the Public Relations Department of Air Astana JSC. “As a part of its work, Air Astana provides free tickets to children with cancer and cardiovascular disease in need of urgent treatment or operations abroad. In 2011, the airline became the wings of hope for more than 40 children and their parents. Today, we are here to put on a party for the children and hope that they do well in their studies and keep healthy. Now they are playing with toy airplanes; but perhaps when they grow up, they will want to be pilots or flight attendants, which would make us very happy!”

In 2011, Air Astana took part in 10 charitable projects, many of which were implemented in conjunction with Ayala Charity Foundation and Mercy Volunteer Society Foundation. The airline plans a number of projects aimed at treating children with cancer and cardiovascular disease. Air Astana seeks to consistently and regularly implement charitable programs with the goal of contributing to the betterment of society.
