    CLIMATE

    The climate is continental with warm, humid summers and severely cold winters. Temperatures range from 20 °C to 25 °C in summer and -18 °C to -20 °C in mid-winter.  The skies are often clear, but heavy rain is possible during summer.

    TRANSPORTATION

    International car rental companies, taxis, public buses, trams, trolleys and underground trains.

    The Novosibirsk metro is the cheapest and easiest way to move around the city. The fee for one trip on the Metro is the same whatever the distance travelled.

    POINTS OF INTEREST

    Novosibirsk is famous for its theatres. The most important is the Novosibirsk State Academic Opera and Ballet Theatre, situated at 36 Krasny Prospect. Other great theatres include the Novosibirsk State Drama Theatre and the Novosibirsk Academic Youth Theatre “Globus”.

    Pervomaisky Park is conveniently located at the centre of the city, while the Botanic Garden, with its small river and the lake, is a great place for a picnic lunch. The big Novosibirsk Zoo has one of the largest collection of weasel and cat species in the world.

    Museums and galleries include the Museum of Art; the Regional Museum of Local Culture and History; the Museum of Archeology and Ethnography of the Siberian Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences; the “No Soap” Gallery; and the “Chernoff” Gallery.
