    CLIMATE

    The climate is characterized by hot, dry summers and short mild winters. The average temperature in July is 26 °C, and in January 3 °C. Strong winds are common.

    AIRPORT

    Baku International Airport is one of three international airports in Azerbaijan and is located 25 km east of Baku. It is connected to the city by a motorway.

    VISA REQUIREMENTS

    Citizens of most CIS countries do not require a visa to enter Azerbaijan. Citizens of other countries require a visa, which can be obtained at Azerbaijani embassies in the visitor’s own country.

    Azerbaijanian manat (AZM)

    Notes: 50, 100, 250, 500, 1000, 10 000, 50 000 and 100 000.

    BUSINESS HOURS

    Banks: 0900/0930-1730 (although some banks and exchange bureaus stay open for considerably longer)

    Shops: stay open until late in the evening in central Baku. On the outskirts they generally close at 1900-2000, except for large supermarkets.

    Underground railway, buses and trolleybuses.
